Of Believing In Yourself

Salam,

When I was a little boy, I always believe that can achieve whatever I want as long as I work hard for it. It is such a good motivating spirit that I continue to carry on for so many years.

Recently however, after a few failing attempts and self-promise betrayal to achieve few of my short-term dreams, I started to question myself, “Can I really do it?” and “Do I really have what it takes to do it?” I know I sound a bit pathetic but it was such a terrible feeling when you cannot even believe your own self.

I remember watching a TV program in my younger days about a story of a young medical student undergoing his houseman ship program. Halfway through the hectic program, he swears that he could not take it anymore. And he called his mom.

His mom, with a smile in her face, replied in a soft mom-like voice “My dear, you are my son and I know you can do it. You have always done it, since you’re a little boy. It is not that you are not good enough, but it just that you are not trying hard enough.”
